As the holiday season approaches, many of us start to reflect on all we’re grateful for. This practice of gratitude isn’t just about making a list of the things we have—it’s about creating a mindset that attracts joy, abundance, and fulfillment. When you focus on gratitude, you can transform your life, shifting away from stress and scarcity and moving toward positivity and abundance. Let’s explore powerful daily practices that can help you tap into the power of gratitude this season - AND, all year long.
I share the exact practices I used as a single mom of two, who escaped a narcissist and filed bankruptcy in the middle of all of it. I truly know the power and transformation of gratitude to manifest a life of joy.

Gratitude is Riches, Complaint is Poverty
In our fast-paced world, it’s all too easy to get caught up in complaining about inconveniences—traffic, long lines, delays, and even finances. But when you complain, you’re aligning with a frequency of scarcity. Your focus on what’s missing in life draws more of the same. Ugh, right?! ?!
Instead, consider this powerful thought when speaking your words out loud and that is: “Your wish is my command—good or bad.” The more you focus on negative experiences, the more likely you are to manifest them. The universe is saying to you “Your wish is my command.” But when you shift your focus to gratitude, you start attracting more positivity into your life. Again, the same concept, YOUR WISH IS MY COMMAND.
Key Reminder: Words Become Things
This holiday season, try focusing on abundance and blessings instead of complaints. When you consciously choose to see the good, you’ll naturally align with a higher frequency—one that attracts more of what you truly want. It may sound a little crazy, but it’s true. Below are ways you can put the practice in place and watch it happen in your life.
Start Your Day with Gratitude
The way you begin your day sets the tone for everything that follows. Here’s a simple morning gratitude practice to try:
- Upon Waking: Remind yourself of the privilege it is to be alive, to have another day to enjoy life. Simply say, “Thank you.” ( either to yourself or out loud).
- Notice Small Comforts: Be thankful for small things, like having a bed to sleep in, running water, toothpaste, and clothes. These simple comforts are gifts, and acknowledging them first thing in the morning creates a mindset of appreciation. There are so many things to be thankful for that we take for granted.
- Plan for the Day: Think through your schedule and express gratitude for the opportunities it holds, even the challenges, because they are chances to grow. I like to play out the day in my head and give thanks for it. Even if it doesn’t go as planned, I still say thank you and do it again the next day to keep the positive energy going.
End Your Day with Reflection
Before bed, revisit your day with gratitude in mind. Try this nighttime practice:
- Magic Rock Activity: Hold a small object ( I hold a smooth stone in my hand, that stays on my nightstand as a reminder) think about the best thing that happened today. Say “thank you” for this moment, letting it remind you of the blessings in your life.
- Reflect on Positivity: Replay the day in your mind and focus on the positive experiences. This ritual sets the stage for a peaceful night’s sleep and more gratitude tomorrow. Again, even if something didn’t go as planned, I release it and say “thank you” and believe in my heart that the perfect resolution is coming.
Daily Gratitude List: Count Your Blessings
Creating a daily gratitude list is a powerful way to stay grounded in positivity. Write down 10 things you’re grateful for and why. For example:
- “I am truly blessed to have supportive friends because they bring so much joy to my life.”
- “I am grateful for my legs, which allow me to walk up and down the steps and be able to move around freely.
Adding a reason for your gratitude deepens your connection to it, helping you recognize the richness already present in your life.
Health is a Gift
Health is the foundation of life. Practicing gratitude for your body and health strengthens your relationship with yourself:
- Thank your arms, hands, and senses, all of which let you experience life.
- Express gratitude for a strong heart, clear mind, and healthy body, acknowledging these as gifts.
This practice can also aid in improving areas of health you want to strengthen. For example, if you wish for clearer vision, give thanks for excellent vision daily, imagining that health as a reality.
Gratitude for Financial Abundance
Money can be a source of stress, but shifting your focus to gratitude can change this. Start by acknowledging the money you have, even if it feels small. When you pay bills, say, “Thank you,” and feel genuine appreciation for being able to pay them.
Consider this: Reflect back to your childhood, a time when you may not have had much money but still received food, a home, school supplies, and experiences. This activity reminds you that money has always been there for you, supporting you in different ways.
Being Grateful in Difficult Situations
Life isn’t always smooth, but even challenges can be an opportunity for growth. Instead of getting caught up in frustration, try to find a silver lining in situations like:
- Job Loss: View it as a time to rest, reconnect with family, or explore new opportunities. Give thanks to your previous position and the experience it did give you.
- Relationship Challenges: Appreciate the lessons learned, the growth gained, and the positive aspects that came from the relationship.
Bonus Tip: If you feel resentment toward someone, list 10 things you appreciate about them. This practice will change your perception, helping you find peace moving forward. For example, appreciate the vacations you had together or perhaps the children you brought into this world, even a time they were there for you during a difficult time. Give “thanks” for the positive and who it has made you today.
Expressing Gratitude for Simple Joys
In our modern lives, so many little things bring us joy. Don’t overlook the significance of:
- Your favorite music
- Movies that lift your spirits
- The technology that connects you with loved ones
- Road systems and traffic lights that make travel possible
- The air you breathe and the beautiful world around you
When you focus on these small pleasures, you’ll find yourself filled with a deep sense of appreciation for life itself.
How Would You Feel? The Power of Emotion
Gratitude is more than just listing blessings—it’s about feeling them. When you envision what you want to manifest, write down how you would feel and actually “feel” that way in your heart & body when you think about it. Tapping into these feelings brings your desires closer to reality.
Remember: It’s only with gratitude that life truly becomes rich. Focusing on what you have, rather than what’s missing, fills your life with a sense of fulfillment.
Final Thoughts: Practice Gratitude Daily
Practicing gratitude doesn’t need to be complicated. It’s the small, intentional moments throughout the day that create an abundant life. Start each day with gratitude, find joy in simple comforts, and remember that you are incredibly blessed.
Thank you for joining us on this journey toward a more thankful, fulfilled life.
And remember: the power of saying Thank you, thank you, thank you!
